Vilnius Night Office organises training for entertainment venues

Vilnius Night Office, committed to ensuring nightlife safety, implements best practices and harm reduction measures for psychoactive substance use, as recommended by international organisations. One of these initiatives is training for staff at entertainment venues. On May 23rd, the first training session was held, aimed at employees of “music venues” and entertainment establishments. The topic of the training was prevention of psychoactive substance use and harm reduction measures in nightlife settings.

The first part of the training focused on psychoactive substances. Toxicologist Dr. Gabija Mikulevičienė presented the main types of drugs, their effects, the risks associated with their use, the dangers of mixing substances, overdose cases, and their prevention. In the second part of the training, Eglė Lydekaitė, a member of the educational initiative “Be Safe Lab”, introduced venue employees to the specifics of communicating with intoxicated individuals and harm reduction measures for psychoactive substance use that can be applied in entertainment venues.

We are pleased that the training participants asked questions and actively engaged in the discussion. We appreciate the interest and positive feedback, and we believe that together we can ensure the safety of Vilnius’s nightlife.

In the future, we plan to organize more training sessions on various topics, such as first aid and employee mental health. We invite interested entertainment venues to contact us for participation.
