On June 11, the long-running initiative Yoga in Unconventional Spaces will invite participants to one of Vilnius’ most distinctive cultural venues, Gallery 1986. Visitors will not only have the opportunity to practice yoga in an unexpected urban setting, but also experience a completely new event format.
For the first time, the yoga practice will be combined with elements of nightlife culture, introducing participants to specially created “rave asanas” – yoga poses inspired by the freedom of movement found on the dance floor. The event will take place from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, after which the evening will continue in a more informal setting where participants can socialise and enjoy the programme until midnight.

Discover the City Through Unusual Spaces
The Yoga in Unconventional Spaces initiative encourages people to experience the city through movement in unexpected locations and to see it not only as a place of constant motion and routine, but also as a space for connection, community, and safer nightlife experiences.
“Over the past seven years, yoga sessions have taken place in a wide variety of locations across Vilnius – from the airport to the TV Tower and Lukiškės Prison. This year, participants are invited to a venue where space, rhythm, and movement come together. We believe initiatives like this help create a more vibrant, safer, and more open city, where it is easier to connect with others and feel part of a community,” say the organisers from Vilnius Sveikiau.
As a partner of the event, the Vilnius Night Office highlights that nightlife is about much more than parties or clubs. It is shaped by diverse communities, cultural initiatives, and different ways of spending time in the city after dark.
“We value initiatives that encourage people to discover new ways of experiencing the city at night and demonstrate the diversity of nightlife culture. Events like this invite us to see familiar urban spaces from a different perspective and remind us that nightlife can be a space for a wide range of experiences, encounters, and cultural activities,” says Emilija Gaidytė, Project Manager at the Vilnius Night Office.
Yoga Is Not About the Perfect Pose
The event will feature an open yoga practice accessible to everyone, from experienced practitioners to those trying yoga for the very first time.
“There is still a common perception that yoga is only for highly athletic or experienced people. In reality, it can be a very simple way to pause for a moment, calm your mind, and reconnect with your body,” says yoga instructor Paula Petkevič.

Open to the International Community
The initiative is also open to Vilnius’ international community, with one of the yoga sessions taking place in English. Event partner International House Vilnius invites foreign residents, international professionals, and visitors to take the opportunity to meet like-minded people in an informal and welcoming environment.
“Vilnius is home to more than 77,000 foreign residents from over 140 countries. Integration is not only about paperwork and logistics – it is about human connections. Events like this naturally create spaces where communities can grow,” says Indrė Laučienė, Head of the Foreign Talent Team at Go Vilnius.
