Throughout the day, two playlists, “That Kind of a Saturday” and “Thinking About ‘Bismillahi ‘Rrahmani’ Rrahim’”, featured in Good Listener: Meditations on Music and Pauline Oliveros, will be playing in the bookshop.

Pauline Oliveros (1932–2016) was an American experimental composer, accordionist, and pioneer of electronic music, best known for developing the practice of Deep Listening—an approach to sound that encourages attentive listening to both music and the world around us.

The playlists come from Michael Ned Holte’s book Good Listener, a collection of daily meditations on music, sound, memory, and listening, inspired by Oliveros’s work.
