Collecting data on nightlife and the economy is essential to understanding the impact of this sector on cities and their communities. Nightlife generates significant revenue, creates jobs, enhances cultural vitality, and promotes tourism, but these benefits are often underestimated due to a lack of data.

By collecting data on visitor flows, economic contribution, safety, and environmental impact, we can develop more informed policies, manage resources more effectively, and ensure a balance between the interests of residents and businesses. Until now, data on this sector has rarely been collected because the night-time economy has traditionally been considered a secondary or informal part of city life. In addition, there was a lack of methodologies and resources for analyzing this dynamic and multifaceted area. With changing urban management priorities and the growing importance of nightlife to the economy, data collection is becoming not only relevant but also necessary for effective decision-making.

While preparations for this major step are underway, we invite you to familiarize yourself with the data already available from two important 2024 surveys involving Vilnius residents and nighttime economy professionals. These surveys reveal the attitudes, experiences, and needs of the local community and provide valuable information about the challenges and potential of the business sector. This is the first step in establishing a dialogue between all stakeholders and ensuring that future decisions are based on real data and a balance of all interests.
