Four ONOS. Four invisible beams and a crumbling floor.
Four form space.
Creates an architecture of the body and relationships. Fractured, rebellious, intimate.
protests, waits, breaks the silence, reconciles, accepts/withdraws/withholds.
Collects omitted details of history.
Through their bodies, they allow what remained invisible to return.
Women revive the lost vibrations of their voices.
Onos (re)creates today.
The performances of the Šeikos Dance Theatre are unexpected, multi-layered stage stories that intertwine contemporary dance, music, and visual arts. In the performances TRAVELING CHURCHES, OVERWHELMED, INDIGO. DAS SCHLIEMANN PROJECT, the theatre highlighted the possibilities of dance to transfer relevant issues of history and identity to the contemporary stage.
The new work ONOS continues the line of dance archaeology. This time the creators look back at the world of Lithuanian manors, the everyday lives and destinies of the women who lived there. Choreographers Agnija Šeiko and Lina Puodžiukaitė-Lanauskienė, together with the creative team, examine how silences, losses and interpretations of stories have shaped our postcolonial identity and erased the sense of belonging to a community.
In the performance ONOS, the body becomes architecture – movement connects space, its elements and the inner world of a person. ONOS – as a common denominator – attempts to collect the scattered fragments of lost history and restore the voice of those who lived and will live.
