In 2018, the music world lost one of the most influential and versatile jazz trumpeters of his generation – Roy Hargrove. This two-time GRAMMY Award-winning artist left an indelible mark on jazz history with his virtuoso playing, innovative compositions and wide range of musical styles. During his career, he released an impressive number of albums, including 24 of his own, and also collaborated with the biggest names in the music world. From Afro-Cuban jazz to Hard Bop, R&B, Hip-Hop and Afrobeat – Hargrove masterfully combined various styles and broke down musical boundaries. His ability to seamlessly transition between genres made him a beacon for both traditional jazz lovers and young musicians exploring the spaces of contemporary music.

Hargrove's influence extended far beyond his recordings. As a mentor and collaborator, he inspired a new generation of artists, helping to shape the direction of jazz and its interactions with other genres. His contributions are heard not only in his own work, but also in the music of the many artists he played with, from jazz legends such as Herbie Hancock and Wynton Marsalis to contemporary hip-hop and R&B stars such as D'Angelo and Erykah Badu. His ability to transcend genre boundaries has earned him widespread respect both within the jazz world and beyond, establishing him as a true musical innovator.

To honor the legacy of Roy Hargrove, Lithuanian musicians have come together for a special concert dedicated to the memory of this distinguished artist. They will perform some of his most famous compositions as well as other works that Hargrove popularized with his unique performance.
