Collaborative Jazz Septet is the only jazz septet in Lithuania that authentically performs original music inspired by the bebop and hardbop eras.

One of the best ways to improve as a musician or discover new musical directions is collaboration. Collaboration with fellow musicians or artists from other directions. And the more quality collaborations, the better. Of course, many artists understand and actively use this creative concept, but the most important thing is not to forget its importance and artistic significance in everyday life. Good friends, performers, multi-instrumentalists and composers Donatas Petreikis and Karolis Šarkus also understood this. Both of them have known each other for several years, during which they listened to and discussed a lot of music together, discussed topics of saxophonists, and shared their own music. All this always remained within the confines of the studio and did not come to the public eye.

Finally, both performers had already accumulated sufficient musical knowledge, joined forces and, out of love for the jazz tradition, created the “Collaborative Jazz Septet”. Karolis and Donatas created music and put it together with the group into an album, which was released digitally on November 1, 2020. In the summer of 2021, the album was presented live in six Lithuanian cities. In 2022, the group released their second album and vinyl record “That Groove”, which can also be found in video form on YouTube.

Eventually, both musicians had gathered enough musical knowledge, joined forces, and — out of love for the jazz tradition — brought the Collaborative Jazz Septet to life.
