Microorganisms around us and beyond Earth: what else does the invisible world hide? 🦠
At the second Science Talks event, the Vilnius-Lithuania iGEM 2026 team invites you to take a broader look at the world of microorganisms - from microbes that are right next to us every day to life in extreme conditions and the search for it beyond Earth.
Together with VU GMC scientist, microbiologist Prof. Dr. Renata Gudiukaite and VU GMC astrobiologist and science communicator Aivars Vilutis, we will talk about microorganisms in our everyday lives, their application in industry, extremophiles and what they can reveal about the possibilities of life beyond Earth.

Estradà is one of Vilnius' most distinctive cultural spaces—a multifunctional venue for shared experiences, creativity, and exchange, located in the historic building that once housed Lithuania's first jazz club. Live music and performances are at the heart of its program, with cultural events taking place almost every day. By day, Estradà operates as a café from 9:00 to 17:00, before transforming into a bar in the evening.
