Mei is almost 25 when she meets John by chance. It's hard to imagine more unlike people, but they are bound together by a secret they shared a decade ago. John is convinced that fate has something special in store for him, and he agrees with Mei that she will help him wait for it to happen. From that night on, as they meet weekly in a giant, shiny nightclub, time seems to stand still. The Berlin Wall may fall, the AIDS crisis may ruthlessly decimate the first generation of clubbers - all of these things cease to matter. Mei and John remain unchanged and timeless, always waiting for something they don't know.
Spanning the period from 1979 to 2004, from disco to techno, this energetic adaptation of Henry James' famous 1903 novella is both a love story and a tale of obsession. It's a fantastical journey, at once romantic, euphoric, melancholic and melodramatic, constantly pulsating to the rhythm of all-time favorite dancefloor hits.
