On April 29 at 6:30 p.m. we invite everyone interested in strange occultism, "psychedelics", mystical stories and philosophy to come to the Sodas 2123 cafe (Vitebsko g. 21, 23, Vilnius), where we will meet with Gintautas Mažeikis - we will present his newly published work "The Book of Lilies II. Obsessions" and remember "The Book of Lilies I. Stone Eyes". The event will be moderated by theater playwright and director Goda Simonaitytė, and artist and philosopher Rūta Petronytė will participate.
In the new book, G. Mažeikis describes the complex phenomenon of human possession, which requires both auto-psychoanalytic techniques (developed mysterious "earthlings"), and the gradual possession of the possessed person, and great passion. The main characters are lilims, crazy creatures living on the outskirts of the Vaius River, which breathes with a chill. However, the lilims themselves are also subject to various dangers due to their behavior and how they view the exploitation of dead souls - larvae. The other characters in the book are people: Liūnas in Lithuania, his brother Matas in a small town in the USA, tarot readers, voodoo magic, Siberian shamanism get involved. The book examines the themes of Soviet totalitarianism, excessive exploitation of nature, memory trauma, clashes of different cultures and civilizations, the theme of numerous symbolic worlds, metamorphoses of consciousness, esotericism.
Gintautas Mažeikis – philosopher, cultural theorist, professor. G. Mažeikis„ scientific activities are focused on the analysis of contemporary theories of social and political philosophy, postmodern political anthropology, and research into symbolic thinking. He has published 10 books, including philosophical ones: – “Renaissance symbolic thinking„ (1998), “After the master and the servant. Dialectics of leadership and mastery„ (2012), “Insults. Metamorphoses of consciousness„ (2013), “Spiritual ignominy: Studies of moral imagination„ (2018), “Critical theory and symbolic thinking“ (2025), and others; fiction: Lilimų knyga I.
