Fallen Flags is a new international project bringing together five young and creatively adventurous musicians from Aalborg (Denmark), Gothenburg (Sweden), Bergen (Norway), and Vilnius (Lithuania). Their shared goal is to explore the territories of experimental sound, improvisation, and genre fusion, seeking unexpected connections between different cities and cultures.

The project will take shape during a three-day creative residency at KORMA in Aalborg, where the musicians will develop new original material by combining acoustic and electronic sound. The residency will conclude with two live performances, offering audiences the opportunity to experience the music as it emerges in real time – spontaneous, experimental, and shaped by collective creation.
The participating artists are:
- Viltė Gustytė – handmade instruments, radio receivers, guitar, and noise (Vilnius)
- Erik Lunde – trumpet, synthesizers (Aalborg)
- Krzysztof Maciejko – double bass (Aalborg)
- Klara Goliger – piano, synthesizers, keyboards (Gothenburg)
- Daiyen Jone Castro – various flutes and electronics (Bergen)
Representing Vilnius’ nightlife and experimental music scene, Viltė Gustytė is known for her unconventional handmade instruments and sensitivity to urban soundscapes. Her participation reflects the voice of Vilnius as an open, creative, and artistically adventurous city.
“Collaborations like this are incredibly important to us. They allow artists from Vilnius to connect with international networks, exchange knowledge and experiences, and strengthen the city’s reputation as a culturally bold and experimental place. We are delighted that Viltė is part of a project connecting musicians from four different cities,” says the Vilnius Night Office team.
The project forms part of Vilnius’ participation in the Music Cities Network, an international network connecting music ecosystems around the world and fostering cultural cooperation. Through this network, Vilnius stands alongside cities such as Aalborg, Bergen, Gothenburg, Berlin, Hamburg, Groningen, Sydney, Reykjavik, and many others, creating opportunities for future collaborations, residencies, and creative exchange.
“We are incredibly happy to be part of Music Cities Network – a platform that makes projects like Fallen Flags possible and connects Vilnius with some of the world’s most forward-thinking music cities.” – Vilnius Night Office.
Fallen Flags joins a growing number of initiatives building creative bridges between cities across the Nordic and Baltic regions. The result is a vibrant and unexpected musical narrative that reflects a shared spirit of experimentation and artistic curiosity.
The project is supported by KORMA / Huset i Hasserisgade and Aalborg Municipality.
