\n“A band prepares the release of their new album, though the city (or the whole country) appears to be on the verge of boiling over. The bass player \u2013 narrator of the novel \u2013 tries not to reflect on the long escalating social tensions that lead there, though he can’t avoid thinking about them entirely…
\nWhat tensions? Who cares \u2013 he certainly doesn’t. Those issues aren’t his, and he shouldn’t have to burden himself with problems he didn’t create. Especially when we all, individually, can have an impact in the world we deem meaningful. For him, that’s his music \u2013 his way of advocating joy, living, creativity, singularity… For him, it’s the continuation of \u201cNo more soma!\u201d, recycle-circles, and his own brand of brash optimism.
